Local and Mayoral elections across our region on 3 May 2018 – register to vote before tomorrow!

16 April 2018

Over the weekend, I was out campaigning in Dodworth ward for the local council elections in Barnsley with party members, local councillors and Labour candidate Neil Wright. There are elections taking place across our region on Thursday 3 May 2018 – including all out elections in Leeds and Hull. Alongside this, there is also the Mayoral election in South Yorkshire on the same day where Dan Jarvis MP is our Labour candidate.

The local and Mayoral elections taking place throughout our region come at an important time – just shy of a year since the snap General Election called last year by Theresa May. These local elections are a great opportunity to build on the fantastic result achieved by Labour last year. Whether it's austerity, the chronic underfunding of our NHS and public services, the lack of house building and the government’s mess in handling the Brexit negotiations, people across the country are looking for a different approach. Good results for Labour next month in these local and Mayoral elections will send the Tories a clear message – people want change.

In order to vote in these elections next month, make sure you register to vote before the deadline tomorrow (Tuesday 17 April 2018). You can register to vote online here
