Linda re-elected as Chair of European Parliament's Development Committee
25 January 2017
In a vote this morning, Labour Euro MP Linda McAvan has been re-elected as Chair of the European Parliament’s Development Committee.
Linda said “I am honoured to be re-elected as Chair of the Development Committee. The EU is the largest aid donor in the world and working with colleagues to shape development policies allows us to collectively tackle some of the most challenging issues in international development such as eradicating poverty, addressing the refugee crisis, providing education to children living through conflict and emergencies and ending violence and discrimination against women and girls. The Development Committee has made headway in these areas over the past 2. 5 years and I look forward to building on what has been achieved so far”.
European Parliament committee chairs are elected every 2.5 years. Linda was first elected as Development Committee Chair in July 2014.
