Rotherham Tassibee project launches Christmas card fundraising for Pakistani School
14 December 2015
Tassibee, a Rotherham based project which supports Asian women in the local community has teamed up with Euro MP Linda McAvan to raise funds for a Girls' school in Pakistan. In 2004, local woman, Khalida Luqman and her family visited the school based in Pindi which at that time had no facilities and a half finished building. Since then Khalida has worked with local communities across South Yorkshire to raise funds to provide education for nearly 100 girls, as well as giving additional practical and financial support for many of the girls’ families.
Now Linda McAvan MEP is helping raise funds through her Christmas card and a fundraising dinner next year. The Christmas card was designed by Haida a 9 year old student at the school.
Linda said “I am happy to be able to support a project that is so embedded within the local community. Tassibee provides excellent support to BME women in Rotherham. It is good to see that this support has been extended to girls of the Tasibeh School in Pakistan”.
